COVID-19 Safety Guidelines

Summer Season 2020

The safety guidelines below have been developed in accordance with guidance from the Babe Ruth League governing body and have been reviewed by the Town of East Fishkill.

General Guidelines

  • All players must submit a completed Covid-19 waiver signed by a parent prior to being allowed on the field.
  • All state and local health guidelines must be followed at all times.
  • If guidelines are not being followed, please contact the EFBRL Board of Directors at so that your concerns can be addressed.

Health Guidelines

  • Any player or person not feeling well should not attend games or practices
  • All players should wash and/or sanitize hands prior to arriving at the field

Game-time Guidelines

  • Pregame conference will be limited to one (1) Coach per team and one (1) Umpire. Social distancing of 6’ is required.
  • Players and coaches shall follow social distancing protocols to the best of their ability.
    • For example, only two (2) players should be in the dugout at one time, while also following 6’ social distancing guidelines at all times.
    • Remaining players & coaches should be positioned down the left & right field lines (off playing field & outside of fence – if possible) away from throws that might come to 1st and 3rd base.
    • Players will be seated or stand no less than 6’ apart and must have at least one (1) Coach or parent volunteer to watch over players in this area at all times.
  • All players need their own bat, helmet and glove.  Players should limit any sharing of playing equipment, bats, gloves, fielder’s mask, catcher’s gear, helmets, water bottles, etc.
  • Players should have hand sanitizer or hand wipes available to them in their equipment bags.
  • Players must provide their own marked water bottle.  No team drinks, coolers, or snacks.
  • Please limit the number of spectators per player to two (2) or less and practice social distancing of at least 6 feet between groups.
  • EFBRL will try to space out games so there is adequate time between games to help limit the number of people in the park at one time.
  • The use of candy, chewing gum and/or sunflower seeds is not permitted by players, coaches, umpires or spectators. No spitting allowed.
  • Players and coaches should refrain from handshakes, high fives, fist/elbow bumps, chest bumps, group celebrations, etc.
